CALCIA MATERIAL AND ITS MANUFACTURING PROCESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to endow calcia with a sufficient hydration resistance using an inexpensive additive so as to solve the problem inherent in the existing hydration preventive technologies and a highly hydration resistant calcia material.

SOLUTION: The manufacturing process comprises forming a CaO-FeO-based solid solution by subjecting a mixture composed of a starting material containing iron components and calcium components to a stepwise heat treatment and precipitating a CaO-Fe2O3-Fe3O4-based compound in the solid solution. The content of iron oxide of the calcia material after the heat treatment is 0.3-15 mass%.
