PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering member capable of obtaining the desired second moment of inertia of area without increasing the thickness, or increasing the number or the rigidity of brackets as in a conventional manner. SOLUTION: A steering support bracket 4 for supporting a steering shaft is fitted to a hollow steering member body 1 extending in the vehicle width direction, and attached to both sides of a vehicle body by using vehicle body mounting brackets 2, 3 fitted to both ends of the steering member body 1. A bracket bulkhead 8 is inserted in the steering member body 1, and a fitting flange part 8b formed on an outer circumferential end of a bulkhead body part 8a of the bracket bulkhead 8 is fixed to an inner wall part 1d of the steering member body 1 so as to be located at a steering supporting part 1c to which the steering support bracket 4 in the steering member body 1 is mounted.
