PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bookbinding equipment which lessens a change in the application of paste to the back of a paper bundle by accurately counting the number of pieces of solid paste supplied to a melting tank and by supplying a proper amount of solid paste at a proper timing. SOLUTION: The bookbinding equipment applies the melted solid paste to the back of the paper bundle and performs bookbinding. The equipment includes a storage part storing the solid paste, the melting tank which melts the solid paste and stores it, a transfer means which transfers the solid paste from the storage part to the melting tank, a solid paste sensor which detects the solid paste being transferred by the transfer means, and a control means which calculates the number of pieces of the transferred solid paste on the basis of a time width of detecting signals sent from the solid paste sensor.
