CHITOSAN SALTS, METHODS OF MANUFACTURE AND USES THEREOF

Organosoluble chitosan salts, their method of preparation and uses are described. The organosoluble chitosan salts may be prepared by reacting chitosan with an acid in a reaction solvent, wherein the acid comprises at least 3 fluorine atoms and is a fluoroalkyl carboxylic acid or a fluoroalkyl sulfonic acid, and wherein the reaction solvent comprises an organic solvent, thereby to form the chitosan salt. The reaction solvent may further comprise water, which is removed without causing the solidification of the chitosan salt.
