The signal light has a carrier (1) with a transparent cover disk (2) and an illumination element layer (3) arranged between the carrier and the cover disk. A pair of border foils (5, 6) extends to a pair of flat sides (4, 4') of the illumination element layer in such a manner that the illumination element layer is connected with the carrier and the cover disk by injection molding. The illumination element layer and the border foils are arranged in a recess (11) of the carrier. A masking foil (7) is arranged between the border foil (6) and the cover plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a signal light.
