A METHOD FOR INTERPOLATING A COLOR FILTER ARRAY USING A GRADIENT VARIATION AND AN AREA AVERAGE RELATION

A color filter array interpolation method using a gradient variation and region average relation is provided to supply a new interpolation method using an edge sensing method and a fixed hue based technique, supply a new inclination degree calculation formula for increasing performance of edge selection and make relation between new channels for performance of superior G channel interpolation. An edge direction is selected for color interpolation of G channel. The G channel is interpolated in the selected edge direction. Colors of R and B channels are interpolated by using information of the interpolated G channel.
