PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anion exchange resin which gives off only controlled amounts of residual impurities, decomposed substances and elutes.

SOLUTION: The manufacturing process of the anion exchange resin comprises the steps (a)-(e) as follows: (a) a step to obtain a crosslinked copolymer by copolymerizing a monovinyl aromatic monomer with a crosslinkable aromatic monomer, (b) a step to make the content of specific eluting compounds to 1 g of the crosslinked copolymer not more than 400 μg, (c) a step to halo-alkylate the crosslinked copolymer, (d) a step to remove the specific eluting compounds from the halo-alkylated crosslinked copolymer and (e) a step to react the halo-alkylated crosslinked copolymer with an amine compound.
