PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain images of proper quality, using a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A vertical selection decoder 223 generates an address signal specifying pixels, in a row where a signal of the pixels is to be read out from among respective pixels of a pixel array 221 and an address signal specifying pixels, in a row where shutter operation is to be performed for the pixels and supplies the generated signal to a vertical driver circuit 222 under the control of a sensor controller 241. A latch circuit 224 is operative to hold the address signals of four electronic shutter rows, corresponding to readout rows in a 1H period. A latch circuit 225 is operative to hold address signals of the readout rows in the 1H period. The vertical driver circuit 222 supplies a SEL signal, a TR signal, and an RST signal for one readout row, and a TR signal and an RST signal for four electronic shutter rows to the pixel array 221 in the same horizontal scanning period.
