PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of automatically and reliably being switched to a photographic function. SOLUTION: The camera is a wristwatch type camera 100, and has a taking lens 2 composed of a fish-eye lens, an imaging element 3 which receives an image formed through the taking lens 2 and outputs an image signal, a face detector 5d which decides whether a face is in an area corresponding to a right-above direction of a display panel 8 or in an area corresponding to an oblique-side direction, and a display switching unit 8b which switches display of the display panel 8 between a photography mode and a timer display mode according to the decision result of the face detector.
