NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND SITE SELECTING TECHNIQUE USING MAP PRINTING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To be identifiable a site on the scanned data from read instrument without placing special limits on a map of a map printing medium such as an atlas. SOLUTION: A read instrument 3 of the navigation system 1 reads out a pattern 14 printed overlapping on a map (12) over a map printing media 2. A first generating means 49 generates partial information 39 compared with a part of attribute information from information indicating location on media plane generated based on reading of the pattern 14 from the read instrument 3. A second generating means 50 generates complementary information 40 capable of extracting position information of one site from a site database 42 by combining with partial information 39. An extracting means 52 extracts position information of the site matched with attribute information consisting with the search conditions 41 combining complementary information 40 with partial information 39 from the site database 42.
