PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress vibration of an engine 2 provided with a combustion chamber 27 and an intake valve 41 opening during intake stroke of cylinder cycle to allow intake air to flow in the combustion chamber 27 at a time of stop, and to reduce energy consumption therefor. SOLUTION: Closure timing of the intake valve 41 at the combustion chamber 27 is advanced to a predetermined first intake valve closure timing and fuel supply to the combustion chamber 27 is stopped according to stop demand to the engine 2. The engine 2 is motored for a fixed period of time while maintaining closure timing of the intake valve 41, and is stopped after reducing intake air filling efficiency. Consequently, vibration following compression and expansion of air in the cylinder is suppressed. Energy consumption for motoring is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
