PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a belt driving mechanism free to detect abnormal stoppage of a mobile body in high precision. SOLUTION: This control method of the belt driving mechanism to carry out an abnormal stoppage detection process to determine it as abnormal stoppage of a media tray 51 in the case when a driving electric current value to a tray motor 124 exceeds a threshold value when the belt driving mechanism 100 on which a tray belt 113 is wound around a tray driving pulley 111 to be rotated by a tray motor 124 and a tray driven pulley 112 supported free to rotate and to move the media tray 51 by travelling of the tray belt 113 by rotation of the tray driving pulley 111 works sets a threshold value found from a driving electric current in normal movement of the media tray 51 at the time when working by previous belt driving is finished as the threshold value.
