PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transport device capable of restricting vibration of a long-size soft body due to a plurality of vibration modes during the travelling operation of a travelling body. SOLUTION: This article transport device comprises an article supporting long-size soft body installed to be suspended or stood from/on a travelling body, a control means 27 for controlling travelling of the travelling body so that the travelling body travels with a set travelling speed pattern by operating a travelling driving means HD based on the travelling speed pattern, a distortion gauge S provided in an end position of the long-size soft body on a travelling body side thereof to output the detection information corresponding to the amount of deformation in the end position. The control means 27 controls travelling of the travelling body with the feed-back control for correcting the travelling speed pattern to restrict vibration of the long-size soft body based on the detection information of the distortion gauge during the travelling operation of the travelling body.
