OPERATOR INTERFACE ASSEMBLY INCLUDING A HALL EFFECT ELEMENT AND MACHINE USING SAME

A machine (10) having an operator interface (20) for requesting an action from an actuator (74) of the machine (10) includes a movable component (22) of the operator interface (20). The movable component (22) is movable among at least two positions. One of a magnet (32) and a Hall effect sensor (42) is positioned to move in response to movement of the movable component (22). The other of the magnet (32) and the Hall effect sensor (42) has a stationary position relative to the movable component (22). A pulse width modulator (46) is operably coupled to the Hall effect sensor (42) for producing a first pulse width modulated signal (66). The first pulse width modulated signal (66) is altered in response to movement of one of the Hall effect sensor (42) and the magnet (32) relative to the other. An electronic controller (70) is in communication with the pulse width modulator (46) and the actuator (74) and is configured to actuate the actuator (74) in response to evaluation of the first pulse width modulated signal (66).
