PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for detecting the genotype or mutation of a target nucleic acid, particularly the genotype of an infected virus genome, in order to understand the morbid state or predict the disease progression of a hepatitis B-infected patient and also to predict the effects of various treatments.

SOLUTION: The method for judging the genotype or mutation of a hepatitis B virus genome is provided. A method for immobilizing a probe nucleic acid fragment on an insoluble substrate is also provided. Besides, a simple and efficient PCR method for refining and amplifying a desired nucleic acid is provided.
