PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing an extremely thin and lengthy film of a polyimide film excellent in heat resistance and mechanical properties. SOLUTION: In the production method for forming the polyimide film with a thickness of 7.5μm or below, the grip of the film in both side end parts in the width direction of the film by a film end part fixing type tenter of an imidation process, both side end parts in the width direction of a polyimide precursor film are overlaid with a narrow film prepared separately, and the parts overlaid with the narrow film are stuck with pins to be fixed.
