PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bobbin thread winding device of a sewing machine capable of securing stableness and durability of bobbin thread winding operation for a long period without using expendable parts such as rubber rings. SOLUTION: The gear part 11b of a timing pulley 11 rotatably supported by a main shaft 12 and a bevel gear portion 22a of a thread winding shaft gear 22 relatively rotatably secured to a lower end portion of the thread winding shaft 21 mesh with each other, and the thread winding shaft 21 rotates by receiving a rotating drive force of the thread winding shaft gear 22 via a coil spring 32 functioning as a torque limiter, so that the thread 9 is wound around a bobbin thread bobbin 8 secured to the thread winding shaft 21 when winding the bobbin thread. However, the torque limiter function by the coil spring 32 works, and the rotating driving force of the thread winding shaft gear 22 is not transmitted to the thread winding shaft 21, and the rotation of the thread winding shaft 21 is stopped when the bobbin thread winding around the bobbin thread bobbin 8 comes close to completion and the rotary load of the thread winding shaft 21 exceeds a predetermined value.
