PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to manually adjust a mapping parameter when converting a color signal in an input-side color reproduction area into a color signal in an output-side color reproduction area. SOLUTION: A target color reproduction area of gamut mapping is set to an input-side color reproduction area, and an evaluation function is determined for evaluating a difference between a gamut mapping result in the input-side color reproduction area based on the initialized mapping parameter and the target color reproduction area. On the basis of the evaluation function, the mapping parameter is then determined to minimize the difference. On the basis of the determined mapping parameter and a restriction condition, a color signal in the input-side color reproduction area is then mapped to the output-side color reproduction area.
