<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle headlamp that is simply structured such that the depth of a lamp can be reduced, directional characteristic performance of an LED light source can be effectively utilized, and a light distribution for an overhead sign can be formed. <P>SOLUTION: This vehicle head lamp 10 includes: the LED light source 11; an ellipsoidal reflecting surface 12 recessed toward the front side in a light emitting direction, having a first focus position F1 positioned in the vicinity of the emission part of the light source and having a second focus position positioned on the front side in the light emitting direction to reflect the light from the LED light source toward the front side in the light emitting direction; and a convex projection lens 13 having a focus position thereof on the light source side positioned in the vicinity of the second focus position of the reflecting surface in front of the reflecting surface and on a nearly-horizontal optical axis. The vehicle headlamp 10 is structured such that the major axis of the reflecting surface is arranged by being tilted downward toward the rear side, and a surface of a board of the LED light source is arranged by being tilted downward toward the rear side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
