<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To know accurately a track width in a manufacturing process of a magnetic head. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the magnetic head comprises sleps of: fabricating magnetic head sub-structure wherein a plurality of rows of pre-head portions that will be the respective magnetic heads later are aligned by forming constitution elements of a plurality of magnetic heads for one substrate; and fabricating a plurality of magnetic heads by separating the pre-head portions from one another through cutting the magnetic head sub-structure, In the step of fabricating the magnetic head sub-structure, indicators 160b, 160c each serving as a reference for indicating the location of a region ABS are formed, in which the medium facing surface of the magnetic heads are to be formed.
