PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record automatically contents classified according to user's tastes and achieve a component-based design of recording apparatus, in a receiving apparatus for receiving contents, a recording apparatus for recording the contents, and a content receiving method and a content recording method using those apparatuses. SOLUTION: The receiving apparatus of the invention includes: a device search section which searches, on a network, for a device where received content information can be recorded, a device information acquiring section which acquires device information from the device responding to the search request, a storage destination information acquiring section which acquires storage destination information designating a destination for content information set in the device transmitting the device information, a content search section which searches for the content information related to the storage destination information, out of content information recorded in a recording section, and a content providing section which provides the content information to the device having the corresponding storing destination information, when the content information related to the storage destination information is detected.
