摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro liquid crystal element having a micromirror structure which performs a hitless operation by a light intensity adjustment function with a simple control algorithm and a simple structure, and to provide a wavelength selective switch using the micro liquid crystal element. SOLUTION: The micro liquid crystal element is provided with: a mirror which reflects light; a diffusion layer which is arranged on the light reflection side of the surface of the mirror, and of which the two transparent electrode plates are filled with a liquid crystal and the light intensity of the reflected light reflected by the mirror is controlled by the electric voltage applied on the two transparent electrode plates; and a mirror driving mechanism which controls the reflecting direction of the light by tilting the surface of the mirror with respect to the optical axis of the light radiated to the mirror.
