PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and inexpensive DC-DC converter of which the frequency can be increased. SOLUTION: The DC-DC converter includes: a series circuit of a switching element Q1 and primary winding P1 connected across a DC power supply E; a series circuit of a switching element Q2 connected to the primary winding in parallel and a capacitor C2; rectification smoothing circuits D51, D52, C51 for rectifying and smoothing the voltage of a secondary winding S1; timing detection circuits 11a, 11b detecting the on/off state of the switching elements Q1, Q2; a control circuit 13a turning on/off the switching elements Q1, Q2 alternately to set the on time of the switching element Q1 according to the output voltage of a rectification smoothing circuit; and a timer 14b starting clocking by a detection signal of the timing detection circuit 11b for clocking only for prescribed time. The control circuit turns on the switching element Q1 by the detection signal of the timing detection circuit 11a only for set on time, turns on the switching element Q2 by the detection signal of the timing detection circuit 11b, and turns off the switching element Q2 after the prescribed time clocked by the timer.
