PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imide resin excellent in transparency, heat resistance and excellent in molding stability in continuous molding. SOLUTION: The imide resin which is excellent in transparency and heat resistance, can be produced without instability in continuous molding such as extrusion molding etc., is produced by using an extruder set to have a constitution dividing the length of the reacting zone from a reacting agent feeding port to a bent port into two equal lengths, and setting the number of total elements installed in each divided zone as X and the repetition of a torpedo and a kneading disc or a notched flight screw and a kneading disc at least 0.2X, wherein the resin has not more than 5% of the distribution width of the rate of imidization of the resin and not more than 0.05 mmol/g of the distribution width of the acid value.
