IMAGE PROJECTION APPARATUS AND IMAGE PROJECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate switching between projections of images of different aspect ratios.

SOLUTION: The image projection apparatus includes: a one-dimensional type light modulating device 1 which modulates light according to image information; a projection optical system 5; and a light deflecting device. The light deflecting device comprises: a first light deflector disposed between the projection optical system 5 and the one-dimensional type light modulating device 1; and a second light deflector 9 disposed on the emission side of the projection optical system so as to be detachably. Detaching and attaching the second light deflector 9 permits switching between the deflection by the first light deflector 3 and the deflection by the second light deflector 9.
