PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display apparatus which allows an observer to observe a high-definition bright image with a simple constitution without using a diffusion board having a high diffusion degree. SOLUTION: When all the picture elements of right and left image display elements are made into a light transmission or light reflection state, the color distributions within an observation screen are made different between a right eye observation image R and a left eye observation image L. For example, when all the picture elements lie in the above state, the color distribution within the observation screen of the right eye observation image R is made coincident with the one obtained by making the color distribution within the observation screen of the left eye observation image L bilaterally symmetrical to the center (0, 0) of the observation image. These color distributions can be achieved by making the arrangement directions of the respective luminescent parts in the RGB of right and left light sources into right-left directions, and making the arrangement orders bilaterally symmetrical. In this way, the color distribution within the observation screen of the right eye observation image R can be canceled or reduced by the color distribution within the observation screen of the left eye observation image L, and the color unevenness of the image observed by one eye can be reduced by both eyes observation.
