PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To search a new medicinal application for an adenosine A<SB>2A</SB>receptor agonist, and to provide a therapeutic agent for glaucoma. SOLUTION: GW-328267, UK-432097, or a compound represented by formula (1) or its salt, each being an adenosine A<SB>2A</SB>receptor agonist, is found to be effective in an ocular tension reduction test and hence is effective as a prophylactic agent or a therapeutic agent for glaucoma or ocular hypertension. In formula (1), W represents a hydrogen atom or formula (8); ring A represents a benzene ring, a pyridine ring, a pyrazole ring, an imidazole ring, a cyclohexane ring or the like; X represents a single bond, O-CH<SB>2</SB>-CH<SB>2</SB>, NH-NH=CH, NH-CH<SB>2</SB>-CH<SB>2</SB>, CO-NH-CH<SB>2</SB>or the like; Y represents CH or N; and Z represents CH<SB>2</SB>or O.
