PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for a passenger conveyor capable of detecting generation of drawing-in of a foreign matter in an early stage when the foreign matter is drawn-in between an inlet protection body and a moving handrail. SOLUTION: When the foreign matter is drawn into the inlet part 3a and the inlet protection body 5 is pressed from a handrail surface 4a side by the foreign matter, the inlet protection body 5 is deformed so as to be expanded to an anti-moving handrail 4 side by the pressing force. A deformation detection mechanism 6 is provided below the inlet protection body 5 in an end side deckboard 3. Further, a displacement detection mechanism 7 is provided at a central side in a length direction of truss of the inlet protection body 5 in the end side deckboard 3.
