A body 10 of foamed plastics material e.g. polyethylene is immersed first in PETN dissolved in acetone and then in cold water so that the explosive in crystal form is deposited on the walls of the cells of the sheet 10. The body 10 is united by adhesives with a sheet of aluminium 12 on one side and a layer of hard fibrous material 14 on the other. The assembly is placed on a metal sheet 16 of steel or copper and the explosive is electrically detonated from one side edge. TNT may be applied in a molten state to the porous body and allowed to solidify or liquid explosive may impregnate the cells.</p> |
