A bladeless pump for fluids, including gases or gases having particulate matter therein, which may be driven by a motor. The bladeless pump consists of an assembly of rotors or discs stacked one against the other. Each rotor or disc has a runner portion on an outer area spaced away from the center of the disc or rotor and a central portion which has two or more spokes. The spokes have inter-spoke openings. The spokes are typically thicker than the rest of the discs. When many discs are placed together and spun on an axle driven by a motor, then air may be drawn in adjacent the rotor assembly where the inter-disc openings are located, and compressed as they enter the inter-disc area. A volute that is spiral shape is provided adjacent the outer rim of the disc assembly which receives the pressurized air and releases it from a motor housing. Applicant's bladeless pump may include a base for receiving the rotor housing thereon and receiving the motor thereon, the base may include a housing to substantially enclose the motor and the motor housing. |
