The invention relates to a tool for separating workpieces (02), arranged adjacent to each other transversely in a strip (01) with a projection extending from the strip plane. The tool has a separator unit (06) with a disc-shaped separating blade (09), a crank unit (07) and a guide unit (13) for guiding the strip (01) on entry to the separator unit (06). The crank unit is arranged on the separator unit (06) such that the separating blade (09) and at least a section of the crank unit (07) come into tangential contact whilst being driven in counter sense, wherein the separating blade (09) separates the crimp contacts (02) from the strip (01) as the strip (01) passes between the separator unit (06) and the crank unit (07). Due to the advantageous construction of eh guide unit (13), the tool automatically adjusts to various workpiece types and sizes.
