The side wall (10) has column areas (12,14,16) proceeding in the vehicle vertical direction and assembly areas (18,20,22,24,30,32) proceeding in vehicle longitudinal direction. The column areas are partially made of cast material. An adjacent assembly area, proceeding in vehicle longitudinal direction, is connected with the column area by recasting. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing a side wall of a passenger car body (2) a mold for use in a method for manufacturing a side wall of a passenger car body.
