<p>Mixed magnesia-zirconia powders are produced by precipitating the mixed hydroxide by addition of 2-10 (pref. 2-4) times the stoichiometric quatity of water to a mixed soln. of zirconium isopropylate and magnesium methylate in mixed benzene and methanol. The solvent is then removed in an autoclave under super-critical conditions. The surface area of the mixed oxides is up to 800 m2/g, while each of the individual oxides have surface areas up to 400 m2/g when prepd. under the same conditions.</p> |
