<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for generating timing signal for reducing power consumption, relating to a remote unit of a radio communication system. <P>SOLUTION: The clock of high precision is used to apply a timing reference signal to a processor 34 in a remote unit during the period requiring a high precision timing signal. During the period of low activity, the high precision clock is turned off and the clock of low precision is used to generate a reference timing signal for the processor. By measuring the number of clock pulses of low precision that are generated between the system timing signals generated based on the clock pulse of high precision, the accuracy of low precision clock is periodically checked. The precision should be at such degree as to recognize that, when the low precision clock is relied on for generating system timing signal, the time is for the processor to power up the high precision clock again. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
