PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily point a position in a virtual 3D space.

SOLUTION: A projector 25 projects light onto a screen 21 and displays a display image. A user 32 operates a laser pointer 22 and irradiates the display image displayed on the screen 21 with invisible light for pointing the position of a 3D pointer 31 to be displayed on the display image. A camera 23 picks-up the display image on the screen 21 as a picked-up image. An image processing apparatus 24 detects the position and shape of the image of the invisible light on the image picked up by the camera 23, and specifies the position to display a 3D pointer 31, based on the detection result. The image processing apparatus 24 generates the new display image for displaying the 3D pointer 31 at the specified position, and controls the projector 25 so as to display the new display image. The present invention is applied to a presentation system.
