<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating a liquid fuel, wherein the fluctuation of the flow rate of the liquid fuel during desulfurization can be suppressed, more stable operation is made possible, and the amount of heat dissipated to the outside of a desulfurizer can be reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for treating the liquid fuel has the desulfurizer 1 and a reformer 7. The desulfurizer 1 is equipped with: a desulfurization part 4 for accommodating a desulfurizing agent 6; a preheating part 3 arranged at the upstream side of the desulfurization part 4 and for preheating the liquid fuel 16; an electric heater 14 provided on the preheating part 3 and for keeping the temperature of the liquid fuel 16 optimum; a desulfurization vessel 2 for accommodating the desulfurization part 4 and the preheating part 3; and a heating vessel 5 which is arranged to surround the desulfurization part 4 of the desulfurization vessel 2 and allows a heating medium for heating the desulfurization part 4 to flow through itself.
