PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external stroboscope drive circuit for an optical signal transmission type camera system with a waterproof camera case using an external stroboscope capable of performing consecutive photography of a subject underwater even in a compact camera. SOLUTION: The external stroboscope drive circuit 51 includes: a stroboscope lamp lighting circuit part constituted to be attached to/detached from the hot shoe of a camera and mounted in a light emitting unit equipped with a light emitting diode LED radiating light outward and a battery BT for light emission; and a light emitting drive circuit 31 equipped with a photo-transistor PH receiving an optical signal from an optical fiber cable 40 and driven to be on, and a trigger circuit drive circuit part driving a trigger circuit 34 on the basis of the on-operation so as to output a trigger pulse.
