PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for protection against digital reproduction without an information item regarding the generation of copy which is available as a plain text upon reproduction, and a method for preventing modification of data regarding protection against copy upon recording of copy. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for protection against copy for digital data stored on a medium, including a step of determining a first mark when encryption and addition of a watermark are identified based on a first digital data encryption identifying step and a second digital data watermark addition identifying step. If the first mark has been determined and the type of the storage medium has been determined, a third identifying step for a type of the storage medium is followed by a step for determining a second mark. If the second mark has been determined and encrypted signature data has been identified, a fourth identifying step for the encrypted signature data attached to the digital data is followed by a step for determining a third mark.
