PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheave support device for an elevator capable of strongly supporting a sheave without enlarging a space between a beam of a car frame and a ceiling surface of a car. SOLUTION: The sheave support device for the elevator is provided with the car frame (3) having the beam (4) for supporting the car (1) and extending in a horizontal direction; and a sheave support member (9) mounted so as to be extended in a horizontal direction in such a state that it is crossed to the beam (4) of the car frame (3) and rotatably supporting a pair of sheaves (7a, 7b) wrapped around with a rope 8. The sheave support member (9) includes a first and second support beams (11, 12) fixed to the beam (4) in such a state that the beam (4) of the car beam (3) is nipped from a vertical direction, and supports the sheaves (7a, 7b) between an end of the first support beam (11) and an end of the second support beam (12).
