PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium conveying device capable of finely adjusting a conveying amount between respective conveying rollers of the recording medium conveyed by the two conveying rollers and not generating sagging and excessive tension of the recording medium; and an ink jet recording device provided with this. SOLUTION: In the recording medium conveying device, the recording medium P is conveyed nipped by the conveying roller 1 driven by a driving means 3 and provided with a large number of projections on a surface and a pressing roller 2 arranged so as to be opposed to the conveying roller 1. Two pairs same as conveying rollers 1 and the pressing rollers 2 are provided along a conveying direction of the recording medium P, and projection height of the projection of the conveying roller 1 on the downstream side in the conveying direction is made larger than the projection height of the projection of the conveying roller 1 on an upstream side in the conveying direction.
