PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire for a heavy load which has enhanced rupture durability when stepping on a projecting object such as a gravel. SOLUTION: A belt 9 arranged in a direction of intersecting between the adjacent layers a plurality of steel codes 8a, 8b extending inclined circumferentially along a tire is arranged on the radial outside of a crown portion of a radial carcass 6. The inside belt layer 10a with two layers arranged closely to the radial carcass 6 of the belt layer consists of a rubber coating layer of the steel code 8a whose cross-sectional inner outline exhibits a circular shape. The other outside belt layer 10b consists of a rubber coating layer of the steel code 8b whose cross-sectional inner outline exhibits an oval shape and whose long diameter is arranged in a posture so as to be orthogonal to a tire radius direction.
