With respect to the separator for fuel cell produced by press molding of a perform composed mainly of exfoliated graphite in order to excel in conductivity and moldability, the separator is improved by devising fabrication of the perform through sheetmaking process so as to excel in moldability and to attain enhancement of the properties of mechanical strength, flexibility and gas impermeability allowing a weight reduction and compaction suitable for automobile, etc. Accordingly, there is provided a separator for fuel cell produced by press molding of sheetlike fabricated perform (14) by the use of a molding die, wherein the perform (14) is constructed into such a sandwich structure that first sheet (14A) resulting from impregnation with a phenolic resin of a sheetlike body obtained by sheetmaking of a raw material composed of exfoliated graphite and, added thereto, a fibrous filler is interposed between a pair of second sheets (14B) composed of graphite coated with a phenolic resin. |
