<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which performs image processing corresponding to output characteristics of an image output unit, an image forming apparatus, an image processing method, an image processing program, and a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: In a color printer 1, a printer controller 2 performs image processing including gradation processing using a gradation pattern for print data from a computer 10 and then outputs a processing result to an engine 6 for printing, where output characteristics of the engine 6 are acquired by an engine characteristic acquisition unit 7 in predetermined timing and passed to a gradation processing data control unit 3, which acquires a gradation pattern corresponding to the acquired output characteristics from a gradation processing data storage unit 4 storing a plurality of gradation patterns to perform gradation optimization processing for storing the gradation pattern as a gradation pattern to be used for image processing by the printer controller 2. Therefore, even if change in engine characteristics which can not be absorbed only by adjustment of density characteristics occurs to the engine 6, suitable image processing can be performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
