PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirmation-notify facsimile reception to the originator of facsimile information. SOLUTION: A facsimile machine 1 compatible with the Internet with a main body portion 3 having a facsimile reception function and an electronic mail transmission function is provided with a telephone directory storage part 13 for storing the telephone number of a transmission origin facsimile terminal and an electronic mail address corresponding to the telephone number beforehand. The main body portion 3 is provided with a function of acquiring the transmission origin identification number of received facsimile, a function of authenticating that electronic mail is to be transmitted to a preset electronic mail address when the transmission origin identification number and the telephone number stored in the telephone directory storage part 13 match, and a function of transmitting the received contents of the received facsimile to the authenticated electronic mail address.
