PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that it is difficult to inject appropriate quantity of fuel during transient operation of a gasoline engine. SOLUTION: Fuel injection start timing and fuel injection period (injection pulse widthτ) are calculated based on the throttle opening and rotation speed at a prescribed angleαof the gasoline engine. Latest throttle opening is taken in at every predetermined rotation angle and an injection pulse widthτnew is re-calculated based on this. If the injection pulse widthτcalculated in a previous time and the injection pulse widthτnew calculated in this time are different, the injection pulse widthτis replaced with the injection pulse widthτnew.
