PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston and an internal combustion engine, capable of restraining deformation to the outside in the piston radial direction in the vicinity of a skirt peripheral end part. SOLUTION: In this piston 20, an inner wall 44 for joining mutual connecting walls 50 opposed in the piston pin axial direction P, is arranged on the piston axis C side from a skirt 40. Even if a skirt central part 41 tries to be elastically deformed to the piston axis C side by lateral pressure from a cylinder wall 15, tension in the direction for drawing mutual joining parts 54 in the piston pin axial direction P acts, and the vicinity of the skirt peripheral end part 42 can be restrained from being deformed outside in the piston radial direction R.
