摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commercially advantageous ring-opening metathesis polymerization catalyst. SOLUTION: The ring-opening metathesis polymerization catalyst comprises (A) a transition metal complex represented by general formula (1) below, (B) at least one compound selected from among amines, pyridines, phosphines, ethers and thioethers, and (C) an alkyl metal compound. LM(X<SP>1</SP>)<SB>l</SB>(X<SP>2</SP>)<SB>m</SB>Y<SB>n</SB>(I) (wherein L is a tridentate anionic ligand represented by general formula: RQ(Pz<SP>1</SP>)<SB>i</SB>(Pz<SP>2</SP>)<SB>3-i</SB>(wherein R is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydrocarbon group or the like; Q is boron or the like; Pz<SP>1</SP>is a pyrazolyl group having at least its 3-position substituted with an alkyl group or the like; Pz<SP>2</SP>is an unsubstituted or substituted pyrazolyl group; and i is an integer of 1-3), or a neutral ligand; M is a transition metal atom selected from group 5 metals of the periodic table; X<SP>1</SP>and X<SP>2</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydrocarbon or the like; Y is a neutral ligand having an electron-donating group; l+m is a numerical value satisfying the valence of M; the plurality of groups represented by X<SP>1</SP>or X<SP>2</SP>can be linked together to form a ring; and n is an integer of 0-3).
