A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for real-time creation of vessel performance models. Performance inputs 310 are received from a set of sensors 308 during a voyage of a vessel. The performance inputs 310 are data associated with a performance of the vessel during the voyage. A real-time performance model 316 is generated during the voyage using a subset of the performance inputs. A predicted value 318 for velocity made good is identified for the vessel using the real-time performance model. A real-time sailing polar may be generated. |
