An image analyser has an image decompressor (24) to decompress the image, a settings engine (26) which determines customisation settings of the decompressed image and stores them in the image traits definition, and an application engine (30) which stores software characteristics in the image traits definition. The software characteristics preferably comprise application names, application templates, application forms and applications settings. The settings preferably comprise video resolution, network and power management settings. The image traits file preferably comprises an XML file having a scheme with plural elements, the elements comprising an operating system, application, operating system update, custom configuration and desktop setting elements. |
