IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS FOR READING COMPRESSED DATA FROM AND WRITING TO MEMORY VIA DATA BUS AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD

An image processing apparatus and the image processing method is provided to prevent the breakdown of the memory bus bandwidth by reading and decompressing adjacent image data in the shared memory storing a current frame image. In image processing apparatus and the image processing method, a memory is accessed through the memory bus(120). A compressive unit(310) compresses the image input and writes compressed data in the memory through the memory bus. A decompression unit(380) reads and decompresses compressed data of the image adjacent to the stored image by the compressive unit through the memory bus, and then obtains the decompressed image. A memory bus monitoring unit(410) monitors the congestion of the memory bus. A bandwidth calculation unit(425) calculates the memory bus bandwidth used by the arbitrary unit among the compression unit and decompression unit, and obtains the calculated bandwidth.
